The school lodged at Soketta Hotels, where a leadership programme was held. The escursion was climaxed by practical training at The Pottery Training Centre, Badagry. The escursion coordinator, Mrs Ifeoma Nwabulue (Sectional Head, Upper Primary school, Curriculum Head, Mathematics, Science, ICT e.t.c.) was so pleased that she said '' This is exciting''. Mrs Tomi Akinsulire, the schools travel consultant and Director of Sweet Tours Holiday was full of smiles and satisfaction. The pottery training was educative, practical, picturesque, fun and exciting. Historical monuments, Museums, and Eco-Sites administrators must consider the importance of Tour Guides or Curators in the promotion and development of such Heritage. To employ a Tour Guide or Curator, the basic criteria that should be considered includes; Passion, experience, and the Guides ability to make personal research. Although, information concerning such establishment may be available, yet it is ideal and very important to task and give the Guide a free hand to make personal discoveries. It will produce knowledge and understanding, commitment, dedication, and passion for the work. The museum or monument should not be scripted because it'll turn the Tour Guide into a puppet that is remote controlled. A scripted monument or museum will deprive the interaction that should be between the Tourist/ Visitor and the Guide.

Tourism, travels and cultures are truly an instrument of positive change to the devastation's and intolerance that exists around the world. I tour Guided Mrs Jennifer Chaine Folayan and her husband, Mr Victor Bolaji Folayan, on this picturesque African morning. I left Badagry around 9.12 A.M on Monday 13th of April, 2015, on an adventure to the villages and towns in between Dahomey and Abeokuta. I was in search of antiques that passed through this territory during the Trans Atlantic Slave trade, and during and after the Egba - Dahomey wars.   I began my trip by shopping for non perishable edible food for the adventure to the hinterland I began my trip by shopping for non perishable edible food stuffs like plantain chips, potato chips, skimmed milk, chocolates, ground nuts, cashew nuts and batteries for the camera for my adventures to the hinterland. About three decisive wars were fought and the Egbas (Abeokuta) defeated the Dahomeans (Abomey) during these battles that were not won easily. The economy of the Dahomeans was based on Slave trading but the sustainability of this trade was threatened by the Europeans, both French and English. These European forces want a stop to the trade. Shaan, Anago Osho and Andre I met Shaan Keegan and Andre and i was astonished by their perception of Africa. They both lived in Port Elizabeth near Cape Town in South Africa and had visited different African countries. Their consciousness of Africa over Europe tingled me, especially when they said that they are Africans and are not deterred by their Skin color.

Anago Osho was visited in Badagry by international students on a rainy June day. The students cuts across the continents of the world. The dividing up of the society in Africa was not static. It was nonrigid. It was flexible. Social stratum is a person’s class in a society. People belong to different social strata or social stratum, and this could depend on the family that a person was born into or the type of occupation one is involved in e.t.c. but it could change for the better or worse. In Africa, before colonization, the kings’ position was undisputed at the top of the social stratum. The kings were at the top of the political hierarchy and slaves were placed at the bottom. Though, slaves were able to climb up the ladder to greatness.  Ancient Africa provided a level playing field for everyone to achieve greatness. A poor family could move up the ladder of society and a wealthy family could do better and sustain their wealth or push downward to poverty. Seriki Abass ruled Badagry for 24years, founded Aiyetoro and Idogo. PHOTO CREDIT: Anago James Akeem Osho Seriki Williams Abass was born originally at a town in Yorubaland called Ijoga Orile. The town is in todays Ogun State in South West Nigeria. Ijoga Orile is not far from Ilaro and Abeokuta. His birth name was Faremilekun and his father’s name was Fagbemi. He was captured by the Dahomeans and became a slave at the age of six years old. The country called Benin Republic today used to be known as Dahomey. The name Dahomey was changed to Benin Republic in 1975.

It is the capital of Benin republic and is situated on the West African Coast. The word Porto Novo is a Portuguese word which means New port. The Portuguese were the first European to settle down there. Porto Novo is also known as Ajase (Ajace) by the Yorubas, and known as Hogbonu by the Ogu. Porto Novo was established in the 16th Century. It was a Slave port controlled by the Alaafin of Oyo. The Oyo Empire was a great empire which also controlled the Slave port of Badagry. It partly controlled the Slave port of Whydah (Ouidah) for a period before Whydah was completely taken over by the Dahomey Kings.

It should be clearly noted that slavery and the slave trade as an institution was quite different in Africa from how it was practiced by Europeans in the Americas. Slavery was not new to continental Africa. Before the Portuguese ever set their foot on the shores of West Africa, there were slave markets in the hinterland. Slavery as a system was as old as the human race. It was once upon a time practiced everywhere on earth. It was recorded in the scriptures of the Christians that the Israelite were slaves in Egypt. In ancient Rome, the Gladiators were used as sport and entertainment. The Gladiators were European slaves who were captured during wars but some sold themselves to pay certain debts.
