The main actors are children but the adult carreta groups are more organized and advanced. This write up is concerned about the children carreta. The carreta season is a time when kids go around their immediate communities in Lagos, characterized by dance and songs during december and atimes during easter. Some of the kids are masked, and these are usually the dancers. Others come behind with songs and drumming. The purpose is to sensitize the community that festive or celebration season is here. It precedes Christmas and new year in Lagos, Nigeria. Grown ups or adults are expected to give tips for the entertainment and it also serves as a form of encouragement.
