MUSEUMS AND MONUMENTS SHOULD NOT BE SCRIPTED By Anago James Akeem Osho

Historical monuments, Museums, and Eco-Sites administrators must consider the importance of Tour Guides or Curators in the promotion and development of such Heritage.

To employ a Tour Guide or Curator, the basic criteria that should be considered includes; Passion, experience, and the Guides ability to make personal research.

Although, information concerning such establishment may be available, yet it is ideal and very important to task and give the Guide a free hand to make personal discoveries. It will produce knowledge and understanding, commitment, dedication, and passion for the work.

The museum or monument should not be scripted because it'll turn the Tour Guide into a puppet that is remote controlled. A scripted monument or museum will deprive the interaction that should be between the Tourist/ Visitor and the Guide.

Some Tourists visit monuments and museums for sight seeing, while others visit for fun, or research. A knowledgeable tourist guide should try to meet the needs of the Tourists/Visitors by been able to answer most of the questions asked. A Guide/Curator must be patient and tolerate all questions.

A scripted monuments and museum will not create the opportunity for personal development of the Guide/Curator. The administrators must organize seasonal training to keep the Tourist Guide/Curators abreast of it's roles and responsibilities to the Monuments, Museums, and the Visitors.

DISADVANTAGE OF A SCRIPTED MONUMENT AND MUSEUM

1, It will turn the guide into a robot that is remote controlled.
2, It will deprive the interaction that ought to be between the Tourist/Visitor/Excursionist and the Guide.
3, A scripted museum does not encourage the personal development of the Guide.
4, It discourage questions and answers from the Visitor and guide.
