Letter to Asterixus: A friend insearch of Elixir By Anago James Akeem Osho

Dear Asterixus, I am on a trip to Whydah, an historical place in West Africa. How are you and New York City today? I got the last message you sent to me. I did not shiver and maybe you do not know how graceful and important you are. Our planet is a wonderful place but the evil in the heart of humankind kept destroying this beautiful place. Maybe we don't know that this evil is also destroying us as a race of people.

THE ROAD TO THE ABOLITION OF SLAVE TRADE IN LAGOS: THE DRAMA BETWEEN OBA AKITOYE AND KOSOKO By Anago James Akeem Osho

Oba Akitoye was a king who believed in legitimate commerce and he desired a good relationship between his people and the British, but his nephew was a defiant slave trader who believed that Oba Akitoye usurped his position as a king.   Before Akitoye became king, Kosoko was in exile in Whydah (Ouidah) and Whydah was another important slave trading port that time.

Origin of European Slave Trade in Africa, And their Voyage to Lagos Nigeria By Anago James Akeem Osho

The Slave trade is a universal phenomenon. It is not synonymous to a people but the Trans Atlantic Slave trade changed how slavery was viewed. It becomes based on skin color.   This was readily accepted because it already existed. The slavers of the Trans Saharan slave trade degraded African Slaves based on their skin color. This slave

The purpose of my quest to attend Heritage Preservation training By Anago-Osho

In my researches i  realized that the history of the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade is still very relative and important.  Unfortunately, the continued existence of the Seriki Williams Abass museum in Badagry Nigeria, is threatened by many risk factors.  The British colonial government made the compound of Seriki Williams Abass, a monument in 1940, but after the departure of the British government because of Nigeria’s independence in 1960, the heritage site was abandoned. It was in the year 2002, that the then Federal Government of Nigeria, under President Olusegun Obasanjo, re-commissioned the edifice as a National Monument, under the National Commission for Museums and Monuments. But, by this time several parts of the building have been affected by destruction due to human activity, specifically, because some people were living in the compound and had little or no knowledge about the building’s historical and cultural significance or its preservation. Prior to starti...

In 1998, Anago Osho tour guides a tourist: The case of consistency

This is the picture of  James Akeem Anago-Osho as he tour guide an International tourist at the  Lekki Conservation Centre, Lagos, Nigeria in 1998 and this picture exemplifies consistency as he still tour his clientelles across his areas of specialization. He still practices his tour guide trade and he seems to be ageless. According to him, the real tourism practitioners or tourist guides are characterized by patience and passion for work. It is important to remember how the journey began for Anago and appreciate the frusterations, dedication and passion for hard work.  To pursue a career in tourism management or become a professional tour guide requires patience and passion. To judge from the glossy front cover of tourism magazines or tourism documentaries, the profession looks interesting and fun, but do not get me wrong, the profession is fun but do not judge a book by it's cover. The financial ganin will come and accumulate only when the tourism enthusiasts is consi...

GENERAL PIPE, ON TRANS ATLANTIC SLAVE HISTORY TOUR WITH ANAGO-OSHO

The Nigerian born American based dancehall and hip hop Superstar, General Pipe and his crew were on a history tour with Anago-Osho in Lagos Nigeria. General Pipe and crew visits Anago-Osho on a Slave route tour The trip was entertaining, social, deep and spiritual. The educational and social history tour was a journey back to the past. It is not flattering to acknowledge the esposure and intelligence of Gen. Pipe as he spoke with wisdom and understanding on world politics as it affect Africa, and especially the youth. The tour was momentarily solemn as Anago began to reveal the comparative past in the present. The slave history education is emotional but in it are façade of lessons to be learnt by Africans, Africa Diaspora and the world. The trans-Atlantic slave journey through the middle passage was the biggest forceful migrations that the world ever witnessed. It was a holocaust.  ‘’The past is still relevant today’’, so says General Pipe.  Mr Raymond E...

The Anago in Benin Republic, Togo and Nigeria By Anago James Akeem Osho (A response to an email sent to Anago James Akeem Osho)

Dear brother Anago Osho, When you have the time, could you share some information with me. I was under the impression that the Africans in the Republic of Benin known as Nago were Yoruba. In fact I thought they were call Nago because they may have been from the Anago. When I was in the Republic of Benin last. I was in the town Quidah. I happen to meet a Yoruba man who was working as a tour guide on one of these European tour buses. He was a Yoruba from Ibadan. In my conversation with him, he informed me that the Nago were not Yoruba. How can this be? I wanted to debate with this Brother, but I change my mind. I asked myself, "How can I debate with this Brother who is Yoruba and myself was born the the United States? Maybe he has some history that I am not aware of. Even though I was born in the U.S., I am so-called African American. On top of that, I am an Orisha and Ifa worshipper. In studying the historical experience of slavery in the West, one of the strongest spiritual trad...

CREATIVE PEOPLE, PREDICTIONS AND THE UNSEEN INNER GRAVITATION By Anago James Akeem Osho

Do you know that what you as a person can see with your eyes evolved from what could not be seen? Look at the plants in your garden or the forest you see on your way when you travel. Look at the house you live in, the cars on the streets, boats and ships on the water.  Look at the culture of the people and their festivals, remember how your favorite restaurant was arranged; the chairs, tables, cups, e.t.c. These elements or things are what we can easily see around us but wait a minute, have you ever thought of how these things came to be? Everything around us began as a thought or an idea on the mind of a person or a group of people. Which is greater? Is it what you can see? Like they say, ‘’seeing is believing ’’. Or is it what you cannot see with your physical eyes but believe is real because you have seen it on your mind? which is greater? As a gardener, you will imagine how you want your garden to look like before you create it. As it grows you begin to tend it the ...

OBANGOGO HILL AND NATURE PARK: NATURES MAGNIFICENT MUSEUM By Anago-Osho

decided to call Obangogo Hill, Natures magnificent museum because of my experience as a museum manager, Tour Guide and the magnificent grace the hill and its subordinate natural figures exhibits.    Instead of Obangogo Tourism, I call it the international name it deserves. The name that immediately expresses what Obangogo Tourism represents; ‘’Obangogo Hill and Nature Park’’. The natural monument gracely sits on the virgin land of Owe-Kabba in Kogi’s State, Nigeria. Tourism is broad and therefore we should not be carried away by trying to identify and promote the Tourism potential of Kabba and neglecting the significance of the Hill.  Obangogo Hill and Nature Park must be supported by UNESCO because of its undiluted Culture and Natural history. It is not porous for now and how long that will last depend on Tourism Promoters and international tourists who discovers its importance. As Tourists flocks in, hotels may spring up at wrong spots. International business men ...
