NIGERIA Tour Guide Master: Anago James Akeem Osho - The Profile







Anago James Akeem Osho is a professional tour guide and often referred to as Master or Chief tour guide. He has been organizing tours, providing tour guide services, promoting nature and cultural heritage and designing itineraries in Nigeria, Benin Republic and across West Africa since 1998.

He is an executive member and membership Secretary1, of Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria Lagos State Chapter. His tour guide service company (Anago James Akeem Osho Adventures) was founded on knowledge and integrity.

According to him, "how can anyone be a tour guide without area knowledge? Who can be a successful tour guide without integrity?". These are the basis of his works. As a tour guide, tour operator, historian, cultural and nature conservationist and storyteller, he has been the ambassador of the region to thousands of tourists from all over the world by connecting and showcasing the unique tourist attractions, history and culture of Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and West Africa in general. 

Anago Osho exhibit the picturesque, undiluted naturalness of the people, culture, history, nature, festival, nightlife and day to day livelihood experiences of the people to the visitors. His tours are usually taylor made, private, group, many days or a day tour with creative itinerary to meet specific interests. His focal objective is the satisfaction of the visitors or researchers. According to him, to meet the need of the travellers may be hard work to many but this purpose has been his secret and had yielded results through referrals. 

He has toured visitors and dignitaries from around the world such as the former American Ambassador to Nigeria and Senegal; Ambassador Walter Carrington and his family, the paramount king of Yorubaland; Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife an his entourage, the Ambassador of Ireland to Nigeria, Ambassador Sean Hoy, Mrs Barbara King, the wife of A.D King (Martin Luther King's brother) and the A.D King Foundation team, Dr Kathy Dudley, the founder of Imani Bridges, Texas-U.S.A, Gina Elle, the founder of speak2earth, the American NigeriaBlackout group etc. And many university students, lecturers and Proffessors in their researches. 

His tour guide company help black people in Diaspora to retrace their roots to the motherland Africa, especially DNA tested blacks. He did his DNA test in 2017 to also reconnect with the descendants of his lost family who were captured and sold into slavery during the Owu war of 1820 and other wars across Yorubaland and West Africa. He has helped thousands of Africa Diaspora in the reconnection to the homeland. He is a very friendly guide who loves to meet people from all over the world. He has also been involved in various documentaries both locally and internationally. 

His types of tours are characterized by his passion. He is passionate about research, nature, culture, history, storytelling and travelling. Anago Osho love to share his experiences with visitors.

His services includes tour guide services, tours, transportation, hotel reservation, art shop, souvenirs, antique collection / shop, culinary tours, photography, film production, business connection, Beach Cleaning and research services. He takes pride in being able to share the knowledge of his homeland with visitors. 

He can provide tours for groups, families, couples or individual travellers. When he's not on the road, he would be training tour guides at tourist destinations and tourist potential communities for economic and youth development.

AWARDS 
In 2015, he was awarded as the best culture and and tourism promoter by Eko Vision Magazine in Nigeria. He was awarded a certificate in recognition of the publication of manuscript entitled "Seriki Abass: Slave trade, Badagry and the history that refuses to die", published in IOSR journal of Humanities and Social Science, Aug-2016. At the Nigerian Heritage Summit Awards 2017, he was presented with an "Heritage Promoter Award (Tourism)". He was appointed as an ambassador for DNA tested Yoruba people's in Nigeria by Imperial African History and Genetic Genealogical Society in 2019, also known as DNA tested Africans. He has won numerous awards and was presented the "Best Tour Guide" Award in Nigeria. In 2019, during the Nigeria Tourism Awards. He was inducted into top 100 tourism personalities in Nigeria 2019 at the "Abuja Jabamah", organized by Akwaba African Tavel Market. As a tour guide trainer, he was presented a Tour Guide Resource Person Certificate by Imani Bridges Leadership Institute. Badagry  Local Government gave him a certificate of recommendation in January 2021 to appreciate his contribution to tourism. He received an award at Abuja Jabamah 2021, as one of the best promoter of domestic tourism in 2020 despite the covid-19 epidemic. 2021, he was awarded the Tour Guide of the year Award by GoCulture, Lagos.

FOLK SINGER AND STORYTELLER
He was a folk singer and story teller. He released two music albums. His stage name is Anago Prince. He is fondly called Anago Babalode. The title referred to him as an historical Ambassador.

He dreams of performing on stage again but he still tells his stories through tour guiding. A professional tour guide is a certified storyteller. His interest in history and culture is insatiable.

It is the capital of Benin republic and is situated on the West African Coast. The word Porto Novo is a Portuguese word which means New port. The Portuguese were the first European to settle down there. Porto Novo is also known as Ajase (Ajace) by the Yorubas, and known as Hogbonu by the Ogu. Porto Novo was established in the 16th Century. It was a Slave port controlled by the Alaafin of Oyo. The Oyo Empire was a great empire which also controlled the Slave port of Badagry. It partly controlled the Slave port of Whydah (Ouidah) for a period before Whydah was completely taken over by the Dahomey Kings.
