The preparation for the 1st Lagos Tourism, Hospitality, Arts, and Culture Economic Summit is triggering the hope that the event will redefine the potential opportunities and image of I'mthe tourism industry in Lagos State and Nigeria in general. The summit is intentionally created to provide a podium for professional tourism entrepreneurs, and the different government agencies to interact, discuss, create cordial relationships and understand the functions or responsibilities of every practitioners, including government agencies.
This is a promising enterprise propounded by Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter. It will be an annual program and the summit should be supported by all tourism associations and stakeholders because it is a united voice that will not only roar but will yield positive results.
According to FTAN Lagos State Chapter Cordinator, Alhaji Summonu Daud Gbenga, "this will be the first specific sector skill economic summit in the state". It will be a pure professional village meeting and will bridge all communication barrier, bringing all relevant stakeholders under a roof speaking to specific subject matter.
He further stated that the plans, programs and activities of the government is directly passed to the industry players with implementation easier and faster with feedback taken immediately where possible. The industry players will also able to lay their complaints to the direct sources and quickly resolved with any areas of policy disputes are resolved with a Win-Win situation with “No Holds Barred” platform It will create an opportunity for the government to showcase the potentials for investment opportunities for the would-be investors in tourism project in the state.
According to Otunba Ayo Olumoko, FTAN Vice President, South West, "the attendance will be carefully selected to cut across all most important players in the government and private sector of the industry limited only to decision makers of the industry".
The event is an hybrid program with a target of well over 5,000 industry players with specific attention to 100 participants that will reside in the prestigious Eko hotel and Conference Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, to meet directly with the decision makers in government and sub sectors in the tourism, hospitality, creative arts and culture sub sector of the industry.
The summit will take place on the 25th of March, 2021, by 9:00 a.m. It is hoped that the summit will bring about the positive transformation that is anticipated by every stakeholder.
