It is popular with the Yoruba, Hausa, Bushongo etc.</p><p>This knot symbol literaly means unity. It traditionally means that everyone in the community must search for ways to unite one another for the development of the community rather than divide it.</p><p>This African symbol shows the importance of unity and the involvement of everyone in community development in a typical African setting.</p><p>Today, the symbol is also adopted as one of the principles of Kwanzaa. It is known as Umoja in Kwanzaa. It is known by different names; Yoruba knot, Arewa knot, etc.</p><p>The symbol is seen on old Yoruba clothes such as aso oke, aso etu, etc. An example of such clothes could be found at Seriki Faremilekun Williams Abass's Slave Museum and Brazilian Baracoon built in the 1840's in Badagry, Lagos, Nigeria.</p><p>In Yorubaland, it symbolizes respect for community, unity of purpose and how everyone's action affect the society either positively or negatively. It's bedrock is the Yoruba concept of "Omoluabi" which is the standard code for living. The characteristics of Omoluabi includes; integrity, a person who is hardworking, a person who is honourable, respect others and contributes to the development of the commu</p><p>It's also popular in the North but became very popular in Northern Nigeria in the 1950's when it was adopted by Sir Alhaji Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna of Sokoto) as a political identity when Nigerian elites were preparing for political independence from Britain. What are your expectations for Nigeria tourism in general for 2024?</div><div><br /></div><div>My expectation for the year 2024 is for all tiers of government to support and create an enabling environment for tourism entrepreneurs. Their offices should be opened for questions, complaints, suggestions, and challenges in the tourism industry. This will encourage open communication, feedback, and discussion about any concerns the practitioners may have.</div><div><br /></div><div>As the Federal Government of Nigeria have created a sole ministry for tourism in 2023, which was very much anticipated by tourism practitioners across the country, the move was a step in the right direction. However, the new minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John who assumed office on the 21st of August 2023, have not been able to act because she have been battling against illness. The ministry had been dormant since it was created last year. I will suggest that a committee is selected from the private tourism practitioners. This committee will work with the ministry to promote tourism. The committee members should be active tourism practitioners that knows where the shoe pinches. Members should be selected from among tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, resort owners, park owners, tour guides, etc. Tourism is a practical profession and theoretical tourism promoters will not take the industry anywhere. </div><div><br /></div><div>2. What areas are you expecting growth and improvements?</div><div><br /></div><div>I am expecting growth and improvement in the area of accessibility and communication between private tourism operators and government tourism agencies. The relationship will produce constructive solution as both private operators and government representatives convene to discuss the practical aspect of tourism that involves real situations and events, rather than just ideas and theories. </div><div><br /></div><div>3. Expectations from the govt? </div><div><br /></div><div>The government should create an enabling environment and policies that aid growth and development to ensure the survival of tourism businesses in Nigeria. The government agencies are in charge of implementing policies. No matter how great the innovation of a tourism operator is, no matter how creative the ideas the private tourism sector implements, bad government decisions and policies can easily kill them.</div><div><br /></div><div>Government makes laws and policies and the purpose of these laws and policies should be to protect and create an enabling environment for tourism enterpreneurs.</div><div>In the year 2024, the national tourism master plan should also be worked on and cue can be borrowed from Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture that has produced a Tourism Master Plan for Lagos State but unfortunately the Lagos State Master Plan has not been fully implemented. No matter how great the ideas or innovation of the private tourism sector is, it needs an enabling environment to prosper. The duty of the government is to provide an enabling environment for the industry to do well. </div><div><br /></div><div>4. Expectations from the private sector?</div><div><br /></div><div>The private sector should be able to organize itself and identify real tourism practitioners. An avenue should be created to discuss industry problems and sought practical solutions as regard our immediate environment. It is the private sector that builds the tourism industry world wide and Nigeria tourism practitioners should position itself well to be taken serious by the government. The industry can only be supported when the private tourism sector have a united front devoid of selfishness, arrogancy and nepotism. The industry is wide with numerous sub sectors. Let the private sector select the best practical brains to represent them. </div><div><br /></div><div>Another matter in question are tourism associations or groups. Some tourism associations are well organized while others are not. It's unfortunate that some tourism associations are formed in the country for the leadership to remain relevant in the tourism, use the associations for personal aggrandizement and there's little or no benefits for the members. The purpose of becoming a member of a tourism association or group is to explore and protect ones commercial interest. It is to represent and promote the mutual interest of the sector and it's members by promoting their general ideal, business interests (by fighting unfair competition), advice to members and provide industry information. </div><div><br /></div></div>Anago James Akeem Osho http://www.blogger.com/profile/02218411179106005542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8546925129390672248.post-5421876853259348422023-12-24T06:55:00.001+00:002024-02-21T04:09:44.357+00:00Fortuity and curse in the re-union of Africa and Africa Diaspora By Anago Osho<p>The purpose of the reconnection between Africa and Africa Diaspora is family re-union and support system for each other.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMk0YXB-wvdtRGBu3ilaG51wnVaedFH0tbB5tMWfqnYjAUQ4c4D_Y-SVeIcjjtfvFfteIys5-J2RiYfCNhvhLuv40VQa0xP1dUCTDiXPcjeb3cQjq3iSirkpEvC8yDV8ceUcKCx-xvdx9WbYU5-RbuIpNbQCCUVBIqQRhDgVHbumjYhITiMpRuJGkJnc0/s2000/IMG-20231122-WA0037.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" height="397" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMk0YXB-wvdtRGBu3ilaG51wnVaedFH0tbB5tMWfqnYjAUQ4c4D_Y-SVeIcjjtfvFfteIys5-J2RiYfCNhvhLuv40VQa0xP1dUCTDiXPcjeb3cQjq3iSirkpEvC8yDV8ceUcKCx-xvdx9WbYU5-RbuIpNbQCCUVBIqQRhDgVHbumjYhITiMpRuJGkJnc0/w267-h397/IMG-20231122-WA0037.jpg" width="267" /></a></div><p>In the words of John Keats, from his poem "Endymion", for me, to contribute and promote the African re-union with Africa Diaspora is "a thing of beauty is a joy forever". It means that fulfilling the hope of the ancestors in reconciling the families at home and Diaspora is beautiful and beauty has the power to bring joy that lasts beyond the immediate moment.</p><p>This task is divine and beyond tangible gains. Everyone on this path, either from the motherland Africa or Africa Diaspora (overseas) must understand that the purpose is true reconnection which will aide the support system for all engaging communities. </p><p>It's the desire of the ancestors to bridge the oceans. As a true ambassador of the "cause", i make it known to those who don't know that to reconnect families in Diaspora to the motherland is not a childs play. It is not business as usual. It takes a lot of efforts and patience.</p><p>However, the most important ingredient on the road of this beauty is integrity. Everything that is beyond the ordinary or supernatural have an after effect, either a curse or a fortune. There's a curse on all those who decieve or will try to decieve individuals or families at home in Africa and individuals or families in Diaspora who feel a powerful desire to return home. There's fortuity for those who bring joy to the countenances of families in Diaspora who wishes to visit or return to the roots. </p><p>Let it be known that everyone whose Africa Diaspora efforts are free from pretence or personal gain, whose works proceeds from genuine feelings will leave their footprints in the sand of time. Their lives shall exhibit grace and by their fruits they shall be known. The Ancestors are alive through us.</p><p>The duty of an ambassador are enormous. As an international promoter of the positive image of Nigeria and Africa, i serve as a reincarnated ancient bridge to the continent. It is a thing of joy for me to put smiles on the faces of Black people in the Americas and everywhere on earth who chose to visit or return to continental Africa. </p>Anago James Akeem Osho http://www.blogger.com/profile/02218411179106005542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8546925129390672248.post-44382546890018677362023-11-23T03:37:00.000+00:002023-11-23T03:37:58.936+00:00EXPLORING NIGERIAN FASHION TOURISM By Anago Osho<p style="text-align: justify;">Christina (41) and her mum Barbara (60) are African American tourists from Memphis, Tennesse and i was suprised and at the same time excited to learn from them that as fashionistas, they are motivated by Nigerian fashion.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT0K2X868QNY6sXCN5EGKDxkSa0lJSohCCzGo0I5FzxGHuFkz_9zmNAkcE2bQfZa2NXRM1fWtVnq9L27fuBG3TLJuYOGFSejRPPfsnOrXs4xdBJSyrxn8-1HC91zfwr89WOj8Tnnu-BWIByCXkyGJadNdrtoeFoJP7KOJRtqmmDRgSBl_hPPLUMxPx9bE/s1600/IMG-20231122-WA0017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT0K2X868QNY6sXCN5EGKDxkSa0lJSohCCzGo0I5FzxGHuFkz_9zmNAkcE2bQfZa2NXRM1fWtVnq9L27fuBG3TLJuYOGFSejRPPfsnOrXs4xdBJSyrxn8-1HC91zfwr89WOj8Tnnu-BWIByCXkyGJadNdrtoeFoJP7KOJRtqmmDRgSBl_hPPLUMxPx9bE/s320/IMG-20231122-WA0017.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHpZi9EPIQI7pwnovPrR0HJjonYiYioVihZ_mfg1aWfuCY1i6gXxJQpFncV0_376VAsOaLGPkAHBAQwUmqbDAwfnmt6RZL_eMUljw9uZ_-j6y_zcxVA3IjynV3k5QZJSNXDVUDTl0k4gSUwr0i5416FYmp2KknHbKUWeFI_Q1JwGLyxIoQMxXdU7qIq-Y/s1600/IMG-20231122-WA0003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHpZi9EPIQI7pwnovPrR0HJjonYiYioVihZ_mfg1aWfuCY1i6gXxJQpFncV0_376VAsOaLGPkAHBAQwUmqbDAwfnmt6RZL_eMUljw9uZ_-j6y_zcxVA3IjynV3k5QZJSNXDVUDTl0k4gSUwr0i5416FYmp2KknHbKUWeFI_Q1JwGLyxIoQMxXdU7qIq-Y/s320/IMG-20231122-WA0003.jpg" width="240" /></a>'</div><p style="text-align: justify;">According to Christina, who is the co-owner of SMURFEY restaurant in Memphis, she watches the Nigerian show "Young, Famous and African" on NEFLIX. I usually add it to my tour itinerary when ever i have tourists/visitors that are stamp collectors or lovers of history and antiques.</p><p>A post office is a public facility and a retailer that provides mail services, such as accepting letters and parcels, providing post office boxes, and selling postage stamps, packaging, and stationery. Post offices may offer additional services, which vary by country. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk4DwsT5haH8qqtnE3Qkr8DWAHXoD3l-6Q0iiZydsWYhcj5c3GOePy3Fp0bsqODLwJxPIR3OvX4RZhkBVzbMIXKPXUhnfpVsREaNoWwmzh0KnLH6Xu74ZKwB32ZVymKPtM3vS8KYepY1q8C9Hvbsusx_aXxu8hY6doC9hnv3L_zmXHxyH3vRjeSHBER9o/s3968/IMG_20231107_124045_551.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2976" data-original-width="3968" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjk4DwsT5haH8qqtnE3Qkr8DWAHXoD3l-6Q0iiZydsWYhcj5c3GOePy3Fp0bsqODLwJxPIR3OvX4RZhkBVzbMIXKPXUhnfpVsREaNoWwmzh0KnLH6Xu74ZKwB32ZVymKPtM3vS8KYepY1q8C9Hvbsusx_aXxu8hY6doC9hnv3L_zmXHxyH3vRjeSHBER9o/s320/IMG_20231107_124045_551.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />During the week i was able to help the Post office sell many post cards, stamps and old stamps were brought out for the stamp collectors in the group. For some of us the Post Office also reminds us of the "Pen-Pal era" when we regularly write to each other, via postal mail. <p></p><p>Pen pals or Pen friends are usually strangers whose relationship is based primarily, or even solely, on their exchange of letters. Letter writing helped many of us to improve in school. It made it easy to express our selves when we write essays during examinations. </p><p>The Post Office staffs should be encouraged and trained to offer tour services to schools and the art of stamp collection should be promoted.</p><p>The Post Office will do relatively well as a tourist attraction site. Old Post Office centres have so much parapheranelia in the store that can be arranged and displayed as tourist products for visitors. The Post office administerators should look inward and see how the post office will remain relevant and the opportunities tourism can provide in it's Sustainability.</p><p><br /></p>Anago James Akeem Osho http://www.blogger.com/profile/02218411179106005542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8546925129390672248.post-60473960145331328332023-10-17T05:34:00.007+01:002023-10-18T19:46:28.036+01:00Badagry Door Of Return Ceremony: The uniqueness of Nigeria's Diaspora Festival By Anago Osho<div dir="auto">The Badagry Diaspora Festival is rooted in the experience characterized by culture and historical connection to continental Africa by Africa Diaspora. (Mrs) Abike Dabiri-Erewa</td></tr></tbody></table><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">Why are there no direct flights from Africa to Africa Diaspora countries? Why is the history of Africa distorted in curriculums taught in world history classes? Why is it that only one storyline is majorly highlighted (Africa sold Africans) and is pushed down the throat of the world whereas African history did not begin with slavery and slave history experiences and methods differs from one African community to another?</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">It has always been the wish of the ancestors to return home to Africa from the time when they were stolen, enslaved and shipped across the Atlantic ocean and today they are returning home through their descendants, who are cousins and families of continental Africa. This is the motivation of Badagry Door of Return Ceremony.</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">The uniqueness of Nigeria's Africa Diaspora reconnection project which divinely starts with individual Nigerians should be appreciated. Is the determination to reconnect families across the Atlantic ocean ordinary or just out of the blue? What's the motivation? The slave route in the hinterland of West Africa saw uncountable human cargos from present day Nigeria to far away slave ports as far as Abeokuta on McCarthy Island in Gambia, slave markets in little Ardra (Allada), ports of Whydah, Goree etc. and numerous slave ports in Europe and across the Americas.</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">The enslaved Africans took Africa with them on the different nefarious journeys they experienced. They left signs at every slave ports, mines, slave holdings and on the plantations they domiciled. The enslavers also left symbols of hardship and sorrows across slave ports in Africa where African ancestors were shipped away and one of such slave port was Badagry. It had direct route to many hinterland slave markets and especially Apomu, which was the biggest slave market in the hinterland.</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">Badagry was a major hypermarket of the trans-Atlantic slave trade where millions of enslaved Africans were bought and sold and forcefully dispersed to Europe and the Americas. This dispersed population has formed diaspora communities across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">The energy that established the "Door Of Return Ceremony" is a renewed hope for the ancestors dream of family reunion. The Door of Return Ceremony began in 2017 but was halted due to COVID-19 pandemic. </div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">Kudos should be given to the support and persistence of <span face="sans-serif">Hon. In 1977, thousands of artists, writers, musicians, activists and scholars from Africa and the black diaspora assembled in Lagos for FESTAC '77. About 16,000 participants representing about 70 nations attended the event. The program lasted for about a month, from 15th January 1977 to 12 February 1977. Lt. General Olusegun Obasanjo, head of the Military Government of Nigeria was the patron of FESTAC. </div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">On the 27th of May 2001, the first Black Heritage Festival which was aimed at reuniting blacks in diaspora with their kinsmen on the continent began in the historical town of Badagry, Lagos State and was declared open by the then Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who became Nigeria's President in 20023.</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">In recognition of the importance of Africa Diaspora to Lagos State and Nigeria in general, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture on the 31st of March, 2022, during the Best Of Lagos Fam Tour, Badagry Division Stakeholders engagement organized a paper with the topic: Lagos as a prime destination for African Diaspora which was delivered by Amb. Anago Osho, founder of Global Anago Adventures Ltd., and co-founders of Association of History, Nature and Culture Tour Guides (AHNACTG) and Association of Professional Tourism Practitioners of Badagry (APTPB).</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">The walk through the magnificent Door of Return is the climax of the ceremony and the returning Africa Diaspora are recieved by the community in glamour, laughter, funfair, dance, music, colourful scenery, costumes, and paraphernalia of culture. During the festival participants will witness and enjoy the Walk through the "Door of Return", Boat Regatta, Parades, unique Cultural performances, and the grand finale.</div><div dir="auto"><br /></div><div dir="auto">The historic town still preserves and maintains it's history in tangible and intangible heritage which positions the town as home for the African descent in the diaspora. The Door of Return ceremony is a symbolic welcome experience in contrast to the Point of No Return where enslaved African ancestors were forcibly taken away to other regions of the world as en-slaved He continued that the earliest cultivation of improved rice varieties (O. sativa L.) started in about 1890 with the introduction of upland varieties to the high forest zone in Western Nigeria" and this research was supported by Atanda O.A. in 1978.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">There are different methods of cooking rice across the world, but where ever Jollof rice is mentioned, Nigeria and Ghana readily comes to mind. Why is this so? </p><p style="text-align: justify;">As there are varieties of rice, there are also various methods of cooking it and this varies from one country to another. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">There's a variety of brown rice called Ofada rice that is found in South West Nigeria. The rice got it's name from a community called Ofada where it is grown but it is also grown in other places in the region. Ofada rice is a Yoruba meal. It is a traditional meal that had become the choice of elites.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Ofada rice is specially cooked in the home and at important occasions and it is eaten with uniquely made sauce, lots of iru (locust bean), ponmo (cows hide), over boiled stew soaked egg, fried fish or goat meat, palm oil is used and it has a particular taste which blend with the aroma of the rice. The types of protein added are optional.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Abeokuta, an historical town in Nigeria is the best place to learn how to cook Ofada rice the indegeneous way. It is served on leaves which serves as plates. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">The leaf has medicinal value. It's botanical name is thaumatocuccous daniellii. It is found in the rainforest of West Africa. The leaf is also used to wrap moin moin (steamed beans paste) and eko (steamed corn starch). The leaf is rich in terpernoids, tannins, alkanoids, flavonoids, protein, phosphorous, fat etc.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">However, there's a fast and popular ingenious method of also cooking rice in Nigeria when in a haste or lack of adequate ingredients and it is popular at school hostels.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">It is called "concotion rice". It is called concotion rice because the rice is quickly cooked by adding all ingredients to it at once. It is fast to cook. Limited ingredients are added to it and that's why it's common with students, bachelors and springsters.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Wanke is another popular way of cooking rice in Ghana. What distinguishes these various methods of cooking rice are actually the ingredients which are primarily sourced from the immediate environment.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Jollof rice seems to be the most popular of the different ways of cooking rice in West Africa. There are different types of Jollof rice and methods of cooking it. There are Senegalese Jollof rice, Nigerian Jollof rice, Ghana Jollof rice, Liberia Jollof rice, Gambian Jollof rice but Jollof rice is on another level in Nigeria. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">It is true that the word Jollof and Jollof rice originates from Senegal but it is vital to understand the place of Nigeria in it's preservation. Jollof rice is nicknamed "Party Jollof"in Nigeria.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">This meal had taken a pivotal position in the lives of Nigerians. It had become a culture in Nigeria and every ethnic group had become an adept. For centuries, Jollof Rice had become a staple food in Nigeria. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Social gatherings like naming ceremonies, wedding, burial ceremonies, house warming ceremonies, birthdays, festivals, etc. are not complete untill Jollof rice is served. In Nigeria, it's an important part of what is called "Item number 7" on any program list and many people look forward to it.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">When Jollof rice is mentioned, Nigeria readily comes to mind before any other Jollof rice loving countries. This is so because of the popularity of this meal in the country. Jollof rice as a national staple is not found in any country like Nigeria. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">The popularity and general acceptance of the meal is evidenced from Lagos to Maiduguri and to every nooks and crannies of the country. No party is complete without Jollof rice, hence the name " Naija Party Jollof".</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Nigeria seems to have made Jollof rice more popular and more so, when you visit Nigeria or you attend a Nigerian party anywhere in the world, then you will understand the position of Jollof rice in the Nigerian life, and why creativity had made Jollof rice Nigerian. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">It is not enough to just write and comment, it is more important to experience how Nigeria has taken Jollof rice to another level. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Nigeria should be commended for preserving Jollof rice as world cuisine and honestly if not for their appreciation of the meal, no one will be asking the question, "who has the best Jollof rice?". </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Adequate research documentaries should be shot on how popular it is in Nigeria, the different ways of cooking it in Nigeria, the creativity and style of presenting it in Nigeria, how it has become a Nigerian brand in Nigerian communities all over the world.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Jollof rice is a daily staple in Nigeria, more than Senegal and anywhere in the world. The origin may have been Senegal but Nigeria had taken it to another level.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Jollof rice originates from Senegal but it's Nigeria and Ghana that made it popular. There had been series of Jollof rice culinary competitions tagged "Jollof rice wars", between Nigeria and Ghana. These unconsciously are methods of documenting and preserving the Jollof rice heritage.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Visit Senegal, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria and you will discover who really own the brand Jollof rice today.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Nigeria created the modern Jollof rice and repackaged it internationally.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">How many African restaurants overseas sells Jollof rice? Which African restaurants abroad has more customers patronizing it because of Jollof rice? </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Which African restaurants overseas sells more Jollof rice than others, in the area they are established? The answers to these questions will reveal how Nigeria have helped to popularize, develop, and preserve Jollof rice. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">However, it is a win-win situation for Africa. Nigeria, promoting an ancient African empire in Senegal through food. This correlate with Africa as the centre of Nigeria's foreign policy.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Ambassador Anago-Osho</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Cultural Diplomat, Tourism Professional, Tour planner, History, Nature And Culture Curator, Museum Manager and Agro exporter.</p>Anago James Akeem Osho http://www.blogger.com/profile/02218411179106005542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8546925129390672248.post-19642017321473946812023-05-02T12:14:00.004+01:002023-05-02T12:14:53.455+01:00Student tours and my purpose By Anago Osho<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjutKpYf6LVAArYlqJ7G0qhDrf3AZf7ncaZwr9V5nFeHAS8VVz9ZVDbz7VxCM3OKAHiyTcVXVAnTfb8Ju_1l_OzAY3h0rBMfR398PVMS09_HVDAyfXY6vTAYr6EFcB2Btn4WeekniyYefabHRoAA9PsfjJVh595FO6Kf-q9NCGKxjmesn8DfexVWBSs/s1440/IMG_20230316_150409_000~2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1319" data-original-width="1440" height="293" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjutKpYf6LVAArYlqJ7G0qhDrf3AZf7ncaZwr9V5nFeHAS8VVz9ZVDbz7VxCM3OKAHiyTcVXVAnTfb8Ju_1l_OzAY3h0rBMfR398PVMS09_HVDAyfXY6vTAYr6EFcB2Btn4WeekniyYefabHRoAA9PsfjJVh595FO6Kf-q9NCGKxjmesn8DfexVWBSs/s320/IMG_20230316_150409_000~2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p>It's always a good feeling when i tour school children. I always leave a mark and this is part of my contribution to my generation, and beyond.</p><p><br /></p><p>#anagoosho</p><p>#anagooshoadventures </p><p>#globalanagoadventures </p><p><br /></p>Anago James Akeem Osho http://www.blogger.com/profile/02218411179106005542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8546925129390672248.post-15627140518905746942023-04-20T07:58:00.003+01:002023-04-20T07:58:47.725+01:00Anago Osho Special Tour Guide<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRbPeCIOoekH14rUgg6Mn7fZuPgSgcGLEbPlAFgFiY2PotwvryADGURVh42-dpMP-ngrWGL07gN-Ay3Dih52ZouP0JtJfAi-UgBWmKI85RHV4peEZA6-5i4IrtYGYF69BmQ-FdPjeXyBbtUF7olsgnZoUiMNAnrH-uzl7hG5wz8pIA3lzuLwEcxb36/s1600/Screenshot_20230407-164914.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="720" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRbPeCIOoekH14rUgg6Mn7fZuPgSgcGLEbPlAFgFiY2PotwvryADGURVh42-dpMP-ngrWGL07gN-Ay3Dih52ZouP0JtJfAi-UgBWmKI85RHV4peEZA6-5i4IrtYGYF69BmQ-FdPjeXyBbtUF7olsgnZoUiMNAnrH-uzl7hG5wz8pIA3lzuLwEcxb36/w288-h640/Screenshot_20230407-164914.jpg" width="288" /></a></div><br /> <p></p>Anago James Akeem Osho http://www.blogger.com/profile/02218411179106005542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8546925129390672248.post-36093492403239892012023-04-20T07:53:00.002+01:002023-04-20T07:53:29.241+01:00Anago Osho Adventures Reviews<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOcyxwFEEibv6w5rzNzKW2Al0M4M2GAj4sQm863Rrmh2kgSvFLYQqCC-qgd_bzjAEz4bspo7kUl9QQC1aTd3Z0C_AboHEu6oISelVDmg-OH1NyVHDK-_Tnsu8QKM-Bywk-XrzQ4y359cc_aYrnqh4ruS7EmdIEMiVNGLZD3wmPnRu9kZVgHhQ9PInH/s1600/Screenshot_20230406-162357.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOcyxwFEEibv6w5rzNzKW2Al0M4M2GAj4sQm863Rrmh2kgSvFLYQqCC-qgd_bzjAEz4bspo7kUl9QQC1aTd3Z0C_AboHEu6oISelVDmg-OH1NyVHDK-_Tnsu8QKM-Bywk-XrzQ4y359cc_aYrnqh4ruS7EmdIEMiVNGLZD3wmPnRu9kZVgHhQ9PInH/s320/Screenshot_20230406-162357.jpg" width="144" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh40EbK4Labc1wPh3iH52PXbG9IXRAeXUAPklNMRRToQMM_BsVUYxSYw-XBNl5l6yeUSsqY9SaNXWCcqb2ka102P-I8zprCxxVRNTF5vcJhdGkVVid9q4To1Sz1o7VUQ5qDo_Do63Edpa8_h5JtJi9hG7JAFnqWk9JWdOs73BQgeOreisbXntvWDSA-/s1600/Screenshot_20230407-164914.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh40EbK4Labc1wPh3iH52PXbG9IXRAeXUAPklNMRRToQMM_BsVUYxSYw-XBNl5l6yeUSsqY9SaNXWCcqb2ka102P-I8zprCxxVRNTF5vcJhdGkVVid9q4To1Sz1o7VUQ5qDo_Do63Edpa8_h5JtJi9hG7JAFnqWk9JWdOs73BQgeOreisbXntvWDSA-/s320/Screenshot_20230407-164914.jpg" width="144" /></a></div><br /> <p></p>Anago James Akeem Osho http://www.blogger.com/profile/02218411179106005542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8546925129390672248.post-4373818815551311312023-04-01T19:11:00.003+01:002023-04-01T19:17:56.390+01:00Badagry Walking Tour created by Anago Osho <p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhifFiW6O505XGW0d120enf-EIQCUwCI1iZR4mVArtECmczNuflFECHSIIQeJZWYJ9MtE2eUsanJXRrwEMnj6qGs0xWVQSo6869mytiRPRkh2D-Ru-FIfxB_iKwy0NVrtPXgJOHcZNw5sRGauLdUWuJuD_8pY7dyFlZ1oVYiVUaUWAHkgYmRgowR9SI/s1920/9d1e3fe15ffa09a2c63e3dc12ca68e4a_0.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhifFiW6O505XGW0d120enf-EIQCUwCI1iZR4mVArtECmczNuflFECHSIIQeJZWYJ9MtE2eUsanJXRrwEMnj6qGs0xWVQSo6869mytiRPRkh2D-Ru-FIfxB_iKwy0NVrtPXgJOHcZNw5sRGauLdUWuJuD_8pY7dyFlZ1oVYiVUaUWAHkgYmRgowR9SI/s320/9d1e3fe15ffa09a2c63e3dc12ca68e4a_0.jpeg" width="180" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Community based Tourism is all encompassing. During the train ride, conversations ensued among participants as they appreciate the mega rail project and suggested that a permanent committee should be set up for the maintenance of the great landmark and hope that it will continue to engage and partner tourism professionals in it's tourism development projects. The experience shows that tourism potential in the state is unprecedented.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The train ride gave ideas of other elements that could be added to tour itineraries during a Lagos city tour package. The scenery around the site of the magnificent Blue Rail terminus would endear visitors, tourists and escursionists, both domestic and international to the appreciation of the environment and Lagos as a unique state in Nigeria. It is obvious that the new Lagos rail system will improve and forever change the view of the transport system in the state. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), represented by Mr Tunde Kolade (FTAN South West VP) was on ground to host all tourism associations. LAMATA officials also recieved participants and gave information on the different train projects as envisioned by Lagos State Government. An introduction was given by Engineer Olasunkanmi Okusaga, Director of Rail Services, LAMATA. It was an opportunity as members of Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) asks questions from Mr Kolawole Ojelabi, the Director of Corporate Communication, LAMATA, who acted the role of a tour guide on the Blue Rail testing ride from Marina to Mile 2. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">It is important to acknowledge the honourable commissioner of Tourism, Art and Culture, Lagos State, Pharmacist Uzamat Akinbile Yussuff, for her consistency, support for laudable tourism programs and determination to develop the industry. And ofcourse all of these wouldn't have been possible without the support of his excellency, the governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu. who has identified the importance of tourism and hospitality enterpreneurship in the economic development of the state.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The special invitation of tourism practitioners to experience the new Blue Rail testing ride before it's been opened to the general public have created ideas and further hope of development in the tourism sphere. It was also a great sight to see different Lagos schools and school children participate in the Blue Rail testing ride. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Every active practitioners deserves an award for the year 2022. The encouragement of the United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and it's Secreatary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili who has been Secreatary-General since January 2018 should also be applauded. One fact remain that COVID-19 pandemic exposed the importance of the tourism industry and how every aspect of it, including aviation are the nerves and muscle of both local and international economy. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial; text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial; text-align: left;">When air transportation, land and water transportation are grounded, and tourist attractions or museums and heritage sites are closed, and safaris no longer function, how would travel agents, tour Operators, hoteliers, tourist guides, and aviators survive? Survival becomes non and void and the only option would be to change profession and survive to safe life and family. Community and sustainable tourism should be advocated for and always promoted. It is the base for tourism development. It directly engages the people. It provides opportunities for the old and young. "Badagry Beyond the Chain Project", facilitated by Ambassador Anago Osho, is one of such ventures that is giving the experience and un-shielding the economic value and opportunities in the communities.</span></div></div><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">A country that has a vision for tourism must have it's own yearly theme. India began to celebrate National Tourism Day since 1948 when the government established the Ministry of Tourism and Communication to look after the affairs and development of the tourism sector. This is the begining of how to develop tourism. The National theme sets a standard for the country to be achieved annually. India should be respected for recognizing the importance of tourism in nation building. The government of India has recognized that Indian economy has to be strengthened through tourism. Every year, the topic of the National Tourism Day is announced by the Government. The theme of National Tourism Day 2022 in India was 'Rural and Community Centric Tourism'. The theme for 2023 is not revealed yet. Once the topic is announced both government and private sector works together to actualize the purpose. </span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">This theme is different from United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) theme. It is of opinion that Nigeria should also have an annual National theme that will be different from the UNWTO World Tourism Day theme. One of the advantage is that it create awareness on the importance of tourism. It also showcases different traditions and culture that is available to tourists. Nigeria should also have a ministry that will look after the affairs and development of the tourism sector.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span>The citizens of the country benefits when government agencies opens their doors to private tourism enterprises without fear of duplication and acceptance. Year </span><span>2023 is envisaged to be prosperous for Tourism and Hospitality businesses in Nigeria and the world but the bedrock of the progress will be peace without fear of attack. Looking at hope and realism brings the conflict between Russia and Ukraine foreward as prices of energy has increased across the world. This had invariably affected all sectors of transportation and economy as prices of products are on the rise.</span></span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">UNWTO's theme for 2023 is "Tourism and Green Investments”.
