Miss Italy (Tourism) Wept in Nigeria

About seven beauty queens visited Nigeria, and proudly represented their countries. These beauty queens includes, Miss U.S.A, Miss India, Miss Britain, Miss Lebanon, Miss Ghana, Miss Italy, and Miss Canada.

These beauty queens came to Nigeria, hosted by their colleague, Tomi Salami, the present Miss Tourism Nigeria. They were all invited to Nigeria by Aurora Charity International to participate in the charity events that took place in Lagos on the 5th of September, 2018.

A tour was arranged for them by SBJ tours incollaboration with Anago Osho Adventures. These living angels represented tourism and they proved that by exploring the tourism attractions of Lagos state, Nigeria.

There were different series of photoshoots and interviews. These ladies are the faces of Tourism in their respective countries. They did justice to that and carried themselves elegantly. On the trip were journalists and photographers from within Nigeria and around the world.

One of the highlight of their visit was the slave history tour with Anago Osho. On the tour, Miss Italy wept as Anago James Akeem Osho was curating and narrating the the historical antecedents of the slave trade era in Badagry, Lekki, Lagos Island, Calabar, Ouidah, El Mina, and other places on the coast of West Africa.

As two of the beauty queens held the slave chains on their hands to feel the weight of the metal known as the slave neck lock, their mood changed and one of the queens uncontrollably bursted into tears.

Anago asked Miss Italy why she was crying and she said sobing, and soberly,  "I am glad I was not born during the time and I can not imagine the agonizing experience". She continued. "I have heared about the slave trade before but the way Anago explained it to us have a lot of imagery in it. It was like I was watching a movie".

The queens were encouraged to include children trafficking, and child slavery prevention activism into their pet projects.

After the tour of the museums and boat ride to Gberefu (Point of no return, Badagry), the ladies were taken to the restaurant where they had their lunch.

At this junction, it is important to appreciate the members of the Nigerian Police Force and other special forces who were with the ladies as escorts and treated them as royal queens that they are. Their presence was not as a result of fear but pride and appreciation of the world Tourism Queens and their countries.
